My practice revolves around experience, with specific relation to the senses. The work I present is intended to involve and stimulate my audience and I am chiefly interested in using sound as a medium by which to represent, and subsequently somehow transform the places which I am investigating. As a practicing visual artist I also draw upon my interest and knowledge of playing music, which therefore results in work that explores our relationship with the surrounding environment through the medium of sound.
My work begins as an investigation of a particular place or environment with a specific interest in the acoustic properties of the place and how this sound-scape can, possibly explicitly, represent the environment or situation in which I am drawn to. The finished work is then either presented within the place in which it was inspired, or transforms and develops into an installation work to be shown in a gallery space. Importantly I currently have a deep interest in retaining a live aspect to my work, intending the audience to have an immediate relationship with what they are experiencing.
I work in various mediums including film, photography, painting, sculpture and installation.
